Whose sky
Is the cloud, that is fleeing, Theirs or still Ours
Is the sky the zone of the North, the South,
the East or the West
Does anybody want to imprison them with
the colours of ideas
Is the Blue – national
Is the White bordering
How far does it reach,
Does it start over the house roof
Or is it already in your hair
Can you grasp its fragment with your hands?
Why can it be hidden in a rucksack
Is it looking
Or is it an image of closed eyelids
What does it hide the shadows of the close for
Is it the carpet of souls
What is it a danger zone for ,
Does it bring fear or send down balm
Whose sign it is
For many years, from the beginning of my artistic activity, actually, I have been a rearranger and a juxtaposer of objects – both literally and symbolically.
My works use ready-made objects, items being their representations (imitations) and concocted objects, fabricated and deprived of any reference to real ones. Also my graphics, drawings or sculptures become objective.
Losing their own autonomy they become ingredients – of a multi-element structure of a piece of art.
I experience the possibilities of their non-standard use, I undermine their original functions and meaning to create their possible, different presences.
The components of my works, come from different fields of art, they create artistic hybrids, they exist not next to each other but together , and together with the space too, as they surrender to it and simultaneously organise it.
It is like creating identikits not with the use of fingerprints and witnesses' testimonies but with signals lying both in objects and drawings and graphic records and in a sound, and in space or in electronic image – simultaneously.
The project of the installation Whose sky is a development of two works: Mad (presented during the exhibition: Near/far in AT Gallery in Poznań) and a photographic object not presented yet, that was created in the summer of 2008. In the realisation presented their creative meeting happened, a connection of different sources: the London subway rucksack and the sky cube.
It is not an accidental placement, however . Their co-presence in a modified realisation, enriched with other objects, became a reason to create a new, much wider palette of meanings, associations, questions and doubts.
Whose sky is a territory of your everyday , closed in the interior where the poetics of clouds encounters the level of a street pavement.
